Erin Wheeler

Erin (she/her) is a parent and licensed Clinical Social Worker in Chicago, Illinois, where she owns Inner Resource Counseling. She started working with perinatal clients in 2015 and is a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Clinician (PMH-C). In her early work with perinatal clients, Erin realized that trauma in the perinatal period was often under-recognized and under-treated by professionals. This led her to get trained in EMDR in 2020 and become EMDR certified in 2021.

As a lifelong learner and psychology nerd, Erin is passionate about helping other therapists feel confident in their knowledge and capacity to engage clients with struggling parts of themselves. She currently offers individual consultation (virtual and in-person) for therapists who have completed EMDR basic training and are seeking hours for certification, as well as clinicians needing support with:

• Treating complex trauma in the perinatal period
• Developing affirming practices with neurodivergent perinatal clients
• Assessing for and treating complex perinatal mood and anxiety presentations
• Treating attachment trauma resurfacing in the transition to parenthood
• Integrating ego-state interventions with EMDR for perinatal clients
• Working with dissociation and EMDR
