Dr. Waxman is the co-founder of The Well Parents Centre. She is a registered Clinical and Health Psychologist, and a certified perinatal mental health care provider (Postpartum Support International). Dr. Waxman’s practice focuses on helping prenatal and postpartum clients manage mood, anxiety, and adjustment to parenthood. She also offers more general services for the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, stress-related difficulties, relationship issues, and sexual dysfunction. Dr. Waxman also provides corporate workshops on a variety of topics relevant to employee mental health.
Dr. Waxman is a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, the Ontario Psychological Association, and the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT). She is a CACBT-certified Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, and has also completed a specialized certificate in Perinatal Mental Health from Postpartum Support International. In addition to CBT, Dr. Waxman has also received training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy and EMDR therapy.
Dr. Waxman completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Queen's University. She completed her clinical residency at The Ottawa Hospital, where she worked in the areas of maternal fetal medicine, gynecological oncology, HIV services, respiratory rehabilitation, and neuromuscular services. Dr. Waxman has published research in the areas of chronic pain and women's sexual functioning, and has also written textbook chapters on sexuality, pregnancy, and childbirth.
